My name is Brad York. My summers have been filled with wheels, cranks and gears since my childhood in southern Illinois. There weren’t many mountains surrounding me in the Midwest during my youth, so I began pedaling on a BMX bike. This was my first taste of freedom, and this is a feeling that has stuck with me through my years. In college I began mountain biking on a 26in 9-spd hard-tail, and mountain biking was a hole in my life that needed to be filled. It wasn’t long after this when I decided I wanted to work in the bicycle business. I started wrenching on my own bike with just a basic knowledge of the inner workings of a geared bike. I have worked for Cycles of Life since the summer of 2013. I consider myself as a mechanic in training, and I will forever be training. Bicycle technology and business is ever changing, and I am always eager to learn/witness the trail that the bikes will head down next.
